I only bought this because of the pretty cover (like most of these lol), but it's a close contender for my favorite of the year. A terminally ill man at a sanatorium tells the story of two crucial relationships in his life. The moods and sceneries this conjures up are honestly more vivid than any book reading experience i ever had. Language-learning: Beyond some monologues about faith and Christianity, the novel has many dialogues and narrative passages that are more or less easy to understand in terms of N2 grammar. However, there are constant N1 words that, although not essential to understand the passage in general, would be very useful to know to enjoy the story more.
Story: It is a very melancholic and sad story about past friendships and romances set in Japan before and during World War II. The protagonist, Shiomi,
