Pretty typical start, but still enjoyable
I picked this up on a whim sometime back, so didn't really have much to go off of when I started,
Did I read the back cover synopsis? Of course notbut was pleasantly surprised. So far it's off to a bit of a cliche start: young man discovers that evil spirits are real, meets other young man who exorcises them, they go off of in search of evil spirits in between school assignments. Our two main characters are pretty solid, however: one is a cute, bubbly, pure young man, the other is a brusque stranger with a mysterious past. Again, all running along well-defined cliches, but still enjoyable. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes, and if the author can keep it all tight and coherent with only four volumes.Note that at the time of this review, the Boys Love tag was on this series. I haven't really seen anything to indicate that at this point, so will keep my eyes open in future volumes.
Full furigana is present, and the most difficult vocabulary will be the stuff relating to spirits and onmyoji stuff and whatnot. (Fun bit I saw: there's a two or three page section somewhat farther in explaining how the traditional five elements balance each other for the reader's benefit, and one of the characters even jokes at that point that he doesn't understand why the lecture is being given, since he knows all this already.)
