So big, big note here: Do not read this if you dislike gore This book is super gory. Like gore every single chapter. Detailed. Lots of blood, lots of pain, dismemberment, screaming, the whole bit. The obi of this book calls it "bio-horror" and in my opinion it absolutely lives up to that description.
With that out of the way - I enjoyed this book! I did find parts of the story tedious - things were rehashed just a bit too much for my taste, and emotional waffling took up a lot of text - but overall it wasn't too bad. I also absolutely adored the ending, it turned it from a "hmm, 3.5?" to a solid 4 for me.
For difficulty this book requires a pretty good grasp of basis science and medical words. The main character is a surgeon and there is a lot of biology concepts discussed (see: bio-horror). If you have a strong base of science vocab this book will be a breeze, if you don't it will probably be a struggle.
Grammar wise there's nothing special here. It's written in a mostly straight forward way, similar to the author's other works.
