i wrote the following in the forums, when i was approaching the end of the 4th volume:

i first watched the anime many years ago, and it’s been a favourite of mine ever since. with a few rewatches, i know the characters and plot quite well. going into the manga, i knew to expect some differences. and there are plenty, sometimes small details, sometimes quite large differences. but the characters remain true to themselves.

A lot of nostalgia in reading this. It deviates from the show a bit, but the movie deviated from the show as well so I don't really care. I'm curious to see how different it will be. Part of the fun of ウテナ is just how off the wall it can get at times.

Basic plot: A girl is saved by a prince as a child after she loses both of her parents, and growing up she both:

a) wants to meet her 初恋 prince

b) wants to be a prince
