I really liked this volume. I'm definitely going to read the rest of the manga. This was the first manga volume I read to completion, and I didn't find it too difficult to parse. I appreciated the hiragana, they helped me look up words I didn't know (I think a bit of the vocabulary is somewhat obscure.) Overall great read. Very cute.

Great first or early manga!

Language

Grammar and vocab are mostly straightforward, and it's easy to tell who's speaking. Sometimes the katakana or other expressions are abbreviated, making them a bit tricky to look up (example スネ for 拗ねる peevish), but even then you can usually work it out from context. Definitely a lot of casual speech & endings (~ちゃった, ~きゃ, etc). The vocab is simpler than other high school, slice of life manga that I've read.

Story

The story itself is enjoyable and moderately paced. It neither drags nor rushes. The two main characters are enjoyable enough, and neither is unrealistically dense, or over the top. Hoping to see a bit more character development, in later volumes. That said, I didn't feel bored while reading it - which is nice at this level.

Update: I got through the whole series (up to the latest volume). It really picks up as it goes along, and the character development definitely came! This might be my favorite portrayal of a healthy romantic relationship. The characters are sensible and well rounded, it avoids cliche approaches to tropes, and the way the characters work through their challenges is really refreshing. Definitely one of my top favorite manga.

A very easy manga with short chapters. The vocabulary used is in the 'simple high school student' range and it's a fairly dialogue-driven manga with only a bit of high schooler slang here and there. Not too much introspective lines (the part I find in romance manga that often trip me up) apart from a recurring statement. Very sweet.

A cute slice of life story that is easy to read

「なのはと千鳥。二人はみんなにはヒミツの、恋人同士」and variants of that phrase is something you'll see in almost every chapter when reading this manga. It is a story of two girls that are dating but trying to keep it a secret from everyone. It is very much a wholesome and cute story but that's not to say there aren't arcs that will pull at your emotions later on.

The language for the most part is relatively simple as most of the story takes place in the high school, although they do have some chapters where there is a sleepover, going to the aquarium, the beach, etc. Most of the dialogue is casual type speech so if you've read any other slice of life manga, you should be familiar with it already.

I think it would be a good choice for anyone just starting to get into reading and wants something different than the usual よつばと.
