(4.21/5)Great first or early manga!
Language
Grammar and vocab are mostly straightforward, and it's easy to tell who's speaking. Sometimes the katakana or other expressions are abbreviated, making them a bit tricky to look up (example スネ for 拗ねる peevish), but even then you can usually work it out from context. Definitely a lot of casual speech & endings (~ちゃった, ~きゃ, etc). The vocab is simpler than other high school, slice of life manga that I've read.
Story
The story itself is enjoyable and moderately paced. It neither drags nor rushes. The two main characters are enjoyable enough, and neither is unrealistically dense, or over the top. Hoping to see a bit more character development, in later volumes. That said, I didn't feel bored while reading it - which is nice at this level.
Update: I got through the whole series (up to the latest volume). It really picks up as it goes along, and the character development definitely came! This might be my favorite portrayal of a healthy romantic relationship. The characters are sensible and well rounded, it avoids cliche approaches to tropes, and the way the characters work through their challenges is really refreshing. Definitely one of my top favorite manga.
A cute slice of life story that is easy to read
「なのはと千鳥。二人はみんなにはヒミツの、恋人同士」and variants of that phrase is something you'll see in almost every chapter when reading this manga. It is a story of two girls that are dating but trying to keep it a secret from everyone. It is very much a wholesome and cute story but that's not to say there aren't arcs that will pull at your emotions later on.
The language for the most part is relatively simple as most of the story takes place in the high school, although they do have some chapters where there is a sleepover, going to the aquarium, the beach, etc. Most of the dialogue is casual type speech so if you've read any other slice of life manga, you should be familiar with it already.
I think it would be a good choice for anyone just starting to get into reading and wants something different than the usual よつばと.

Everything is so proper, done well, good, correct, conventional, regular. Nothing bad or exceptional. It makes me almost feel sorry for that it might be some ones dream. It is like a brand new Toyota Corolla, Dodge Avenger, your run of the mill family minivan, Chevrolet Corsica, Mitsubishi Mirage, anything by Audi, Ford Five Hundred or VW Golfs from II forward.
A finished manga with 13 books, almost all 12 chapter, each pretty close to 15 pages. Contents very reliably similar in difficulty. It certainly makes non language related difficulties of reading in Japanese less. Especially good fitting for reading in fixed time schedules — for example during train rides.
Experience will be slightly heightened by knowledge of Japanese school calendar. Maybe it is a good chance to learn about it – if one did not yet. The manga however will assume ones familiarity with this concept. Just as if it was expecting the reader to be as correct and proper as it is.
The whole story and development is... regular, proper. There is enough plot to distinguish chapter from chapter, volume from volume. But I feel like the regularity is the only one small thing that is special to this title. In other words, nothing that would be unseen in other books.
Quite a few likeable background characters. Maybe a few more that are unlikeable. Very proper and reliable art style. If I tried hard enough I might think of one time I have seen a face that was misaligned in perspective and I would not even be able to pinpoint where it was. Everything is predictable to a comforting degree, even when there is any drama it is done like it is just another Tuesday drill.
I would totally give it 3.5 or 3.75, but to me this is not a 4 star manga. However I think it would be if romance-yuri-slice-of-life would be my go to genre.
