I gave this a try bc I had read a random chapter or two in the middle, and it seemed like it would be a rather spicy story, with some toxic drama elements... which is not wrong, but if I'd known what it was, I wouldn't have picked it up.
CW for rape and sexual assault (under the Details section)
Details
The story starts off with a not very consensual sexual encounter between the mains... followed by one of them throwing up and passing out drunk (while the PoV character takes care of her), then the PoV character raping that same character in her sleep. In the next chapter, they chance encounter each other, and the raped character says "actually I was awake the whole time and I really liked it, and I've been trying to find you all this time", followed by the PoV character immediately sexually assaulting them. The PoV character is even aware that what she was doing (both times) was wrong, all the while claiming she would have stopped if the other character said she didn't want it (ignoring the fact that the other character literally did tell her to stop during their first encounter). I dropped the book after that chapter.
Besides the fact that I found all that really unrealistic, I just don't want to read a story from the perspective of an unapologetic rapist. It's possible the story has redeeming qualities, but I don't want to find out, and if I'd known beforehand, I never would have started it.
