Skip the first half of the book
This is the first volume I’ve thought was genuinely awful. The entire first half of the book (ch 1-11) can literally be skipped, and nothing of consequence will be missed. Tldr: The party doesn’t know the way back to Alterna, so they get hired as bodyguards, by an eccentric, annoying af merchant traveling there. On the way, like a bunch of morons, they follow him into a magical tent & get trapped. They get out by going to a new world. Also they lost all their gold, and the Haru x Merry
