If Emma Woodhouse got into fortune-telling
Synopsis Chloe is a bored rich young woman who likes to help people - and gets a little too hands-on about it sometimes. She takes Emma under her wing after finding her on her doorstep, and the two begin an unlikely friendship. At Emma’s suggestion, Chloe turns her private fortune-telling hobby into a business-for-fun. But neither of them know quite what they’re getting into…
Entertainment As the title says, the story is giving me some Emma and Harriet vibes from Jane Austen’s novel. If you enjoyed 逃げ恥, this is by the same author - it definitely has some similar vibes but I think クロエマ is a little bit more quirky. It starts a bit slow, but picks up and gets pretty juicy around the halfway point. I was a little unsure about it up to that point, but now I’m hooked and excited to see where the story will lead. Sadly the next volume won’t come out until 2024 😭
Language Learning I would rate this at a similar difficulty level to 逃げ恥. At times there were lots of everyday vocabulary and I could go a while without looking things up, but at other times there was a lot more difficult vocabulary. There’s furigana, but sometimes it’s there for some more everyday words like 俺, 揉める but not other harder seeming words like 侮辱.
