I finally finished Re:Zero Volume 1.
I really like the book, but I have to admit that I didn't understand what was going on far too often and had to ask Deepl. Most of the time I understood the sentence, but in many cases the sentence was still a bit unclear. The special choice of words in the book, and in my opinion a very special way of writing in general, is the big selling point here. But if that selling point can't be understood and appreciated, then logically it's not the book's fault, but the reader's.
What I can say is that, in my opinion, the book is better than the series - at least so far. The book covers the first 3 episodes of the anime, so you can see how much more detailed the book is compared to the series. This makes a big difference, because the author really takes his time to describe things, characters, emotions and thoughts in detail, but not unnecessarily long.
I will definitely continue reading the series in the future, but for now I will take a break until I think I can enjoy his works better in Japanese.
