(4.67/5)Suspenseful book that keeps you guessing despite you, as the reader, knowing exactly how the murder occurred and by whom it was committed (like, from the first chapter haha). Like this author’s other works, he uses pretty simple language to accomplish fresh ideas. I did have to look up some words here and there as there are some discussions between a physicist and mathematician that I couldn’t quite understand lol. But also the whole logic of their thinking was overall a bit hard for me to wrap my head around (man, how does this author think of this stuff).
I did get a little bored around the middle since we have all the facts since the beginning, and we just see detectives running around in circles basically. And it’s a little repetitive, though it did mean I got used to some common vocabulary and lines of thinking by the end of a the book and it got easier to me to read. But when I got to 75%, I burned through the rest to find out HOW it’s going to end.
I think this is a great read for those wanting to read extensively as the world is ‘small’ with it being a very focused plot and a small set of characters. It can also be a fun challenge for intermediate readers, as they continually use certain vocabulary and you can get a feel for the writing style.
Highly recommend this author for learners. His books manage to use comparatively straightforward words and language to tell a fun, fresh crime/mystery story.
This one is about a tangled web of relationships where each character is trying to figure out the motives of the others. The book opens with the crime and the murderer's identity isn't a secret, but everything that happens after is.
There was some philosophical conversions that were just at the sweet spot for me to need to use a bit of brain power to 100% follow, but not so hard that it was impossible.

Awesome...
Gripping mystery novel that revolves around a small cast of characters. Even though we know who committed the murder from the very beginning, the author leaves you in suspense as to what's going to happen next.
I loved the characters and empathized with them deeply. The book centers around the murder investigation, but it also includes sections that touch on philosophy, friendship, and romance. I even learned a little math!
I would say that after the first few chapters, the book progresses slowly until about 65% the way through, at which point I binge-read the rest of it in one sitting. The ending impacted me emotionally and I'll be thinking about it for while.
Great for learners because the sentence structures aren't too complicated, the number of characters is small, and they revisit the same places throughout the novel.
