The translation of this was hugely successful over in the US i believe. Honestly i have no idea how you'd even translate this though. I'd rank this right at the top of the most difficult books i've reviewed, maybe just below the Mishimas. Extended bits detailing buddhist traditions and seemingly random historic events that are fascinating to read about in a way, but that i found incredibly difficult to follow. I struggled to get through this to be honest, but some striking moments did bump my op

I don’t think I would recommend this book to anyone still actively „learning“ the language. Of course I don’t want to discourage anyone from reading it! Just I don’t think it would be a very pleasant experience.
