(3.96/5)Great book BUT same issue as 変な家... aside from that though I very much enjoyed it and was even on my toes for some of the scenes!
on the issue matter for those who didn't see the reviews for 変な家 : generally this person doesn't know how to write an ending , specifically it's like watching a great movie but instead of having a climax you have someone doing a video essay on it
In terms of learning though for me it didn't add much, but I will also point out that they have moments where they pin out things from drawings you have a pdf of so it does hold a lot of learning potential
I definitely preferred 変な家 over this one. I listened to them both as audiobooks, and I think I should not have done that with this one as looking at the pictures is crucial to enjoying this book in my opinion. I mostly listen to audiobooks when it's not convenient to be looking at the images mentioned (walking, cooking, cleaning, etc) and my enjoyment of this story suffered from that.
A somewhat interesting bundle of mysteries, good tension in some scenes, and honestly a better conclusion to this one than 変な家 (IMO), but overall not something I would recommend as an audiobook. Do yourself a favor and get the text, or commit to listening to the audio when you're able to quickly reference the pictures.

This was actually a pretty scary book to read (please I can't be the only one,,, right..). But more than that, the plot is very interesting. It has a classic satisfying structure of intertwining stories that will eventually be tied together by the end.
For me, this book is more well-written and the story is layered better than his viral debut 変な家, especially for the ending.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes a unique mystery novel (and don't mind what's in the trigger warning section).
