While at first it seemed predictable, there were a lot of unique twists and turns, and I seriously never expected the author to permanently, severely handicap the MC. The political developments were very enjoyable, and there's no shortage of events to keep you intrigued. For better and worse, the author brought in a lot of new characters. Mostly this was a good thing, but when it came time for the final battle, there was too much to get through, and even with the decent writing, I found it dragged by the final section. Also the author still has no concept of how wounds work. That said, the story wraps everything up pretty nicely.
My only criticism would be that the author has introduced vampires who seemingly have no drawbacks or need for blood - which like, what's the point then? I guess it's just a shorthand for insane healing + blood
bendingmagic. The yuri developments are slow but nice, and the sweet months are largely left as a reward for after the big battle. It's nice seeing シュリネ and ルーテシア's personal growth, and increased sense of security and trust with each other - even being comfortable away from each other - as well as working out their boundaries.
Looking forward to the next volume!! (Not currently grouped as a series)
