This was the first Mishima i read, and afaik is his most straight-forward book to get started with. A romance on an island. Beautifully written, i.e. keep your dictionary at the ready and never put it away until the last page is turned. Set on a real island, 神島 (called 歌島 in the book), this is excellent at painting a picture of it in your head. When i saw photos of the island after i read the book, it looked pretty much exactly as i imagined it. Loved the last page of this.
