Um Mitternacht, wenn die Vogelscheuche erwacht

I found this a great read, for several reasons:

• as someone who read lots of Goosebumps books in my youth, it was a nice dose of nostalgia
• the steady build-up of creepy details and escalating tension kept me hooked
• the language is fairly limited and repetitive, which made it accessible and enjoyable
• the familiar farm setting made the scenes easy to visualise
• the predictable horror narrative helped me follow the story even when I didn’t know every word
• the clear horror structure and target demographic meant I could anticipate plot developments, which helped contextualise unknown vocabulary

I'm planning to read more of the series since it has proven useful and enjoyable. Highly recommended!
