[DeepL Translation - needs review] Do you know what an owl is? Uroko is a creature with red eyes like a rabbit and fluffy fur like an owl. The name "URURO" is a combination of the words "hare" and "owl. At night, when everyone else has gone to bed, somewhere in the forest, the Urodoro start to play. Look, they are talking happily. What will the brays be doing today? Let's take a peek, gently, quietly.

ふくろう + うさぎ = うくろう
A cute little children's book about the うくろう (a combination of ふくろう and うさぎ) and their adventures one night. Written entirely in hiragana with spaces between words. It being available for free makes this a nice little read to sneak in between others.

A kana-only picture book available for free on Amazon. I like the art, and the story is simple and cute; it looks spooky, but isn't at all. You're not going to find any native material easier than this, so if you're a beginner you may as well download it and try it since it's free.

I picked this up back when I was first getting back into Japanese and never did read it. It's quite charming, wish I had. No kanji and has spaces between words. I know some people don't like not having kanji but I didn't find it very difficult to parse. Most of the book is just light conversation between the creatures.

Cute story that could be hard to follow
This book uses casual and conversational Japanese. It is written fully in hiragana with spaces between the words. Some of the dialogue isn't based on what's happening in the pictures, so that could make it a bit hard to follow.
In addition to the free ebook, there's a free read aloud that gives some life to the different personalities of the rabbit-owl characters: https://youtu.be/QJSeJsssmQU?si=Vfe8dTZzKvA8JOcO
