An entertaining but challenging WWII-era action thriller about a Japanese con artist and a Russian femboy who both desert their respective armies and join an A-Team-esque group of mercenaries doing missions for whoever's paying. While not as ludicrous as something like Inglorious Basterds it has that pulpy, over-the-top vibe but at the same time seems to be quite well-researched. Each chapter is more or less a self-contained tale, but there is a broader continuity running through the volume.
