Franco outlawed superhero comic books ... let that sink in for a minute.

So ... this was kind of a big deal when it came out. It reads like a long form Mad Magazine parody of The Avengers, Lord of the Rings, etc (nothing has changed in the last 50 years, has it ...) but it's more a self-parody of Spain and its own sense of backwards ineptness in the waning days of Franco's regime personified by the hapless, hopeless, luckless Super Lopez who can't do anything right.
