This is an entry in the genre of ostensible kids books about animals going on adventures that make adults feel sad about the nature of existence.
Because it's a kids book it's quite short (around 150 pages on my ereader) and language is pretty straight forward. I'd say it's much more digestible than The Little Prince which is a similar genre book often popular with language learners.
Although it's quite sad the writing itself was engaging and there are some lovely illustrations.
