Great short stories & lots of cultural vocabulary
When I first started to read I made the mistake of trying to pick up some picture-book fairytale and folk stories because I assumed they would be easy and fun. So wrong...so very, very wrong. This series of books, however, manages to convey these types of stories in a manageable and enjoyable way and contains more variety than other readers I've seen available.
*This volume is focused on stories of wisdom, but all of the tales were quite humorous!
*Each story was broken into smaller segments/chapters, which was nice because I could read in short bursts and not feel the burden of leaving the text abruptly.
*The margins contain explanations of ordinary vocabulary that may be unfamiliar at the level the book was made for (intermediate, I'd say B2 for this volume) as well as cultural vocabulary. Even if your level is above the volume's ranking, I highly recommend this for the cultural vocabulary!
*There are several longer annotations in the text that delve into cultural points related to the vocabulary - again, this was a major point that made me enjoy this book.
