Really fun mystery-- one of the better Higashino works I've read.
The crime comes really early (I love starting with action!) and I liked being able to follow along with the characters as we try to find out what really happened.

If you like an interactive detective novel where the author invites the reader in to try and solve the mystery as the story goes along you'll enjoy this.
Middle aged author 오사무 노노구치 visits his childhood friend and fellow author 구니히코's house only to find him murdered. When the detective assigned to the case arrives at the house he turns out to be an old acquaintance, 노노구치 fills him in on the details of the situation up till now, including the controversy caused by a novel his friend publish based on a shocking crime committed by one of the school peers.
I love books with an element of meta and this really scratched that itch for me.
A fun read, as always with this type of book I suggest jotting down the characters as you go along to more easily keep track.
