The first Murakami that I’ve read in Japanese!
It’s a fairly early collection of short stories (each story, but the last, are 10 pages), but you still can see his ingenuity/style shine through.
There's quite a few which cover everyday situations, but hint at the feelings between the characters. And then, there's a couple of more filled with magic realism.
There are lots of Murakami-isms(?), e.g. introducing women via 美人ではないけど… , which I understand can get on peoples nerves.
