I read about half of the book and decided to stop and put it back on the shelf. At my current reading level (roughly intermediate, 13,000+ vocab), this isn’t enjoyable. I can understand it if I make an effort, but I’m not “getting” it the way it’s meant to be read. For me this is significantly harder to read than 君の名は。I’ve been looking up twice as many words here, and they rarely repeat and seem to be low-frequency. I think the writing is meant to be humorous but it’s not coming across for me.
IMO this book is suited towards more advanced readers who can appreciate the flourishes.
