(3.67/5)Additional reading practice for textbook
This is a box set of 12 slim volumes that match up to the Genki textbook chapters 1-6. There's two booklets per chapter. They're very similar to other graded readers except the vocabulary and grammar is tightly controlled to match up to the textbook chapters. The whole Genki graded reader series looks like it follows the same pattern. This also makes them wonky to grade as booklet #1-1 is not the same difficultly as #6-2.

Only for die-hard Genki fans... If there are any...?
Although I don't use the Genki textbooks, I though I'd give these graded readers a try.
On one hand, I can see that they'd be useful for those studying with the textbooks: you can use what you've learned right away by reading the story associated with the textbook chapter. On the other hand, all graded readers follow the same kind of route vocabulary- and grammar-wise, and this series doesn't have anything particularly special about it to make it a better choice over other graded readers avail
Good Reading Practice, Very Expensive
I picked these up as I am studying for the N5 and wanted some reading practice that was closer to my level. The stories certainly fit the N5 reading level, and I think it was good practice to read through them, but at nearly $100 US, there is not a lot of value here. I finished all of the books in about two hours, they are quite short.
Still, there isn't too much reading material that's easy to find at this level, and I still think it was good reading practice.
