Charming Children's Mystery Novel

This was a good read with an engaging mystery and fun characters. I thought all the characters were well realized, with distinct personalities and quirks. I think this book feels more mature than some modern Japanese children's novels I've read; it didn't have anything that was overly cutesy about it or overly stereotypical characters. It reminded me of reading older children's books like Mary Poppins when I was a kid.
