(4.40/5)Simple and entertaining series of novels!
Yoshikawa Sakura is a depressed middle schooler who is roped into joining the school wind music club by her two best friends, who are fanatic about a genius saxophone player, Ibuki, the most popular guy in the school. On their first day they learn the iron rule of the club…. “No in-club romance allowed!”.
I picked this up after seeing a review on Amazon JP from a mother saying it was the most popular series in her daughter’s school. So I thought it would be great for language learning.

Shoujo-feeling & heart-warming!
CONTENT: This book is for elementary schoolers in the sense that it portrays middle school as a much more mature experience than it actually is. But if you can handle some cheesy moments, it is very fun and easy to get into the MC's middle-school-ish way of thinking. The main couple is cute and have lots of sweet moments together.
My only gripe with the content was that the bullying the MC endures is "solved" very abruptly in proportion to how horrible it was...
