A collection of short stories set against the backdrop of the pandemic, each featuring some form of crime. Initially, I expected them all to be dark horror stories based on the title and theme, but that wasn’t necessarily the case — there was a lot of variety in genre. The author did a great job of arranging and pacing all of the stories so that both each individual one and the collection as a whole had a great sense of tension. With each story I was hooked until the last page because I kept wondering if the ending would be a happy one or not. I also appreciated how the stories’ chronology followed the general arc of the pandemic, showing how everyone was a victim of uncertain times in different ways depending on what stage it was in. I recommend this to anyone who doesn’t feel it’s too soon for pandemic nostalgia and is looking for a fun emotional rollercoaster ride (no seriously, the end of one of the stories made me tear up!).
