(3.73/5)Challenging but great read
Some entire chapters are written on the border between narrative reality and metaphorical theatrics. It forces you to double-check that you're reading many sentences correctly. I loved every second of it.
Story-wise, it's a very well-executed growing-up story with several twists. Should be enjoyable for a wide variety of people.
Overall it was fun to read, but i felt like it lacked a bit of depth. The characters changed their way of thinking way to fast i felt like, and the messages it gave off felt a bit too shallow and if taken the wrong way even dangerous to some in similar situations.
Its entirely possible though, with all the references especially to Noh that some connections went over my head.
Challenging, but worth it
Very touching and emotional story. The read was definitely challenging as there was many metaphors and introspective questions. There were parts where I had to re-read or read the sentence very slowly and many culture references that I had to google to understand. As well as a surprising amount of medical related terminology. Despite all that, I thoroughly enjoyed the story!
