The writing definitely improved a bit in this volume, and you get more backstory for the 2 leads, and also the ex-gf, which helped fills things out a bit, and make the whole thing seem less "????". I was pleasantly surprised the author didn't play up the toxic stuff more. I still find it hard to believe that Kasane's ex is just fine with the fact (and even somewhat encourages) that she's entering into a romantic relationship with a 17 year old though.
