(4.29/5)Very addicting
The manga is about a former idol who quit when she was younger because she realized her group just didn't have that "it" factor. She's now 22 and working part time at a コンビニ. Even though she quit the industry, she is still very much interested in idols. One day she goes to a meet and greet event and the idol there recognizes her and convinces her to give it another try. She ends up joining a "survival idol audition" competition after that and we follow her story through that.
The premise sounds simple but it has been very interesting so far. The first volume's pacing felt a little fast but I think it was to just set everything up. The pacing ends up feeling a lot better after this volume, although it wasn't bad here either, just a tad fast.
All of the characters so far have been very nice. The art in this is some of the best I've seen in any manga as well. All of the panels are very expressive and there a ton of scenes that'll make you want to screen shot them.
Language wise I think it is relatively easy. There is furigana for all the kanji in this. There are a few text heavy panels sprinkled throughout but nothing crazy. The vocab was pretty straight forward if you're used to slice of life and entertainment industry type settings.
Nice enough story about a former and current idol (both fans of the other) pushing each other to succeed. Some parts seem a bit unrealistic, but it's the sorta thing you can just roll with, bc it's clearly there for story/character moment, and this isn't a critique of the idol industry or anything.
The first volume gave me the impression that this was going to be a yuri + idol story, but if that's the case, the yuri portion really takes a back seat over the following volumes. So I wouldn't recommended it, if you're looking for romance.
I really loved the pacing of vol 1, and felt volumes 2-4 (esp 3 & 4) slow down a bit too much. I dropped it after that, because I realized it wasn't for me.
