(2.33/5)Premise: Kai works for an organisation that protects humanity, only the threats to humanity were more or less eliminated in a war 100 years ago. One day a bizarre phenomenon transforms the world as he knows it, to one where the the war 100 years ago went very differently.
Difficulty: It was standard... isekai? It's the same world but it's not? Anyway, it shouldn't prove too difficult at all if you've read some other fantasy. There were some made up words and spell names and stuff like that which if you're not used to that kind of thing could trip you up. The inclusion of a decent amount of weapon/tech vocabulary probably makes it a bit more difficult than standard fare. I want to say it's somewhat beginner friendly.
Thoughts: I had a decent time reading this, the fast paced action was gripping, and the worldbuilding and actual plot itself were pretty interesting i thought. Where the novel really drops the ball is the character writing which came across as incredibly shallow to me, all of the characters are boring and one dimensional. Overall, i think i'll continue this series when i'm looking for something to read down the line. As for now i think i'll spend my time elsewhere.

It is fairly well executed for what it is. But it's still utterly vapid.
If you want to read a story about a guy beating the odds by getting a completely unfair advantage which makes him powerful and very predictably winning fights that are way too dramatically staged for how little actual drama there is given we can all tell exactly how it's going to play out - this will be a good pickup. The action isn't badly written, and the imagery/worldbuilding is fine. Dialogue is atrocious though.
My main issue is that is doesn't explore the implications of any of the fantasy elements it introduces in an interesting way at all. Everything is in service to telling this bland recycled plot of strong-guy-gets-the-girls-wins-fights. There is roughly zero thematic depth. None of the characters are interesting. There's just nothing on offer here that you haven't seen a hundred times before.
If you want half-decently executed light-novel power fantasy bullshit, go for it. I was extremely bored though once it became obvious that nothing interesting was going to happen.
Difficultywise, it was pretty easy. There's a little bit of fantasy and military vocabulary, but all very common stuff.
