Very similar vibe to the first book. A sweet world view combined with a cozy mystery following our two 5th grade protagonists.
I like the gentle mystery this author builds, and in this case, you do actually have the clues needed to unravel it with some research (although don't expect yourself to, I'd be highly surprised if anyone actually did). But it is fun that it could be possible, and that the mystery is not as obvious as I initially thought it would be.
Those are the strong points I loved. I'm not wild about how naive the first person narrator is, but it's helpful for the author to use in dialogue to further the plot and it's what makes the book rather easy to understand.
There are a couple of repeated dialogue devices that the author uses that are helpful for language learners but can get old after a while. For example, if a character uses an uncommon word, then someone asks soon after ○○とは... なに? Or similar
So in that way you barely need a dictionary if you just keep going you're bound to understand if you have a vocab of ~3-4k words and can read most common words in kanji through grade 4.
