Just as the title indicates, this book is about proper table manners - the focus is, of course, mostly on Japan and 和食, though it also has a smaller section on Western table manners and mentions of how manners are different in countries like China or Korea. I did find myself wondering how important some of the directions were for everyday meals, especially since in the Western portion, it was definitely saying a few things that I don't think your average person ever thinks about at a day-to-day
