The worst way to experience an absolutely incredible story
The bits and pieces are there: this manga has an incredible artstyle and I truly treasure what the artist was making in order to differentiate this story from the novel and anime, but I think it cuts away some of my favorite pieces of both as well - I think second volume might go hard with the wordplay, but part of the magic of 化物語 is the crazy unassuming setups that it's very easy to miss, but they pay off a few thousand pages later, and when you go back you go like, "i can't believe it's been
