(4.04/5)A dark, creepy, uncomfortable read that kept me interested the whole time. The difficulty level and storytelling made for a very bingeable experience.
If you decide to read this be prepared for the graphic adult content.
I found this after reading ハピネス by the same author. It has a similar artistic vibe and difficulty level so if you enjoyed that work than this might be a good pick.
Language: The text is fairly simple and there are a lot of panels that focus more on art than dialogue. There is no furigana and sometimes the character refers to themself from an outside perspective which can be a little tricky to understand at first.

Disgusting — on purpose — and quite well executed. Content warnings are no joke, but also not superfluous: they do not serve the one purpose of making this just an edgy title, as it might usually the case. Story is deep and the author – Shūzō Oshimi – does a good job walking the reader through it.
There are 9 volumes, but they are surprisingly not boring for a book so serious. What is tiring, is the disgust which saps out of almost every corner. It also has a smell like Honore Balzac to the writing, but I just can not put my finger on why, and most of the authors titles have this XIX century quality to them, which I am not a fan of.
It is not unlike 惡の華 and ハピネス. But harder impacting than the latter and more readable than the former. Albeit more generic than I would like from this author. Best of the three in the way the story is laid out. Certainly has a better closure than ハピネス.
Art style is original enough but does not have any special appeal to me. I have to give it, that the gruesomeness goes hand in hand with book contents.
