This is a short story book so contains several stories. The final story is a non fiction story which does contain some language and content that may be triggering or upsetting for some people as it does contain a personal account of an incident caused shortly after the war. The other three stories were relatively light hearted in comparison. The back of the book does give a short synopsis of each story so if you did chose to read this but aren't sure about the final one, you can still get a short understanding of what the story is about, although in English.
The final story is a harrowing telling of one persons experience shortly after the war when the Futamata tunnel explosion took place and does contain themes of death and the immediate aftermath of the destruction caused by the explosion including descriptions of injuries and the damage caused both physical as well as emotional.
If the content is not something that would be triggering for you, I would recommend the final story for the language used for anyone who is likely to progress into reading nonfiction stories about wartime or any fiction that covers similar topics as there was a fair amount of new vocabulary and the grammar seemed simple enough for anyone of N4-N3 level.
On the other hand, even if the final story is not something you would be likely to read, the other 3 stories are still decent enough for anyone struggling to progress into native level content. For anyone that has progressed to native content, these stories may come across a little dry in comparison.
