This book is written in 강원도 사투리; I didn't realise this and was very confused when I started reading.
Various animals are taking shelter from the terrible weather when a human couple joins them, and pop! Out comes a baby. It's a Christmas story.
Apart from being unoriginal, the choice of animals was a bit bizarre (a woodpecker?), and didn't really seem to have any significance. The story just came across as a bit random and messy.
From a language-learning perspective, I wouldn't recommend it unless you are particularly interested in the specific dialect (and don't have anything more interesting to read), or just want to see an example of how dialect differs from standard language.
While the story was poor, and it doesn't hold any particular value for language learners, the final nail in the coffin for this book is the author's "about me", which takes up more pages than the actual narrative and is just a self-aggrandizing essay about his life and achievements. This would be grating in any book, but alongside such an uninspired and forgettable story, it's particularly obnoxious.
Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend it.
