New setting but not all that fresh
This is where the 'school arc' starts, but as the author notes in their afterword: that doesn't mean it's all set at school. So not quite so much changes after all. There's a larger focus on Elena and Arya's relationship in this volume, which was nice. Arya's still getting stronger, which I don't mind for all it's getting a tiny bit ridiculous how there's just no end to it. :D
My gripe with this volume was rather that it felt repetitive. A lot of stuff gets explained unnecessarily when it's really obvious or was just mentioned a couple paragraphs or a chapter ago. This is a common issue with LN, but I guess I didn't notice it as much in the earlier volumes? Either it wasn't as bad or the novelty of it just wore of.
I wish LN authors would place a little more faith in the reading (and recalling) capacity of their readers. Japanese is supposed to omit the obvious, after all. 😂
Anyway, I still like the setting and the twist at the end was nice, so I am looking forward to the next volume.
