Volume 1 Introduction: Satoko Mugimaki has an immune system disease. She lives part-time four times a week. The doctor recommends that she "look for a marriage," but Satoko decides to move to an apartment complex where rent is cheap! She is healed both mentally and physically by the interaction with Suzu-san, the overly caring landlord, and his son Tsukasa, and by the tranquil time in the apartment complex....
...the subject matter of this one is a bit hard for me to grasp, because this book speaks about disability and attempts to spin it into "disability isn't the end of the world, haha!", but reading through this, I feel like I personally would hate to be in the shoes of the main character, even when she's trying her best to make things work.
I think this story has a lot of interesting linguistic bits and I'm glad I read it, but I found it to be hard to relate to and a bit sad in places where it wasn't supposed to be sad, so melancholy is a strong word with this one.
