Series Blurb
His name is Guts, the Black Swordsman, a feared warrior spoken of only in whispers. Bearer of a gigantic sword, an iron hand, and the scars of countless battles and tortures, his flesh is also indelibly marked with The Brand, an unholy symbol that draws the forces of darkness to him and dooms him as their sacrifice. But Guts won't take his fate lying down; he'll cut a crimson swath of carnage through the ranks of the damned - and anyone else foolish enough to oppose him! Accompanied by Puck the ...

Difficult Words, Easy Grammar
For me, the main reason I had to stop every now and then with this manga was the vocabulary. There were many words I was unfamiliar with (monsters and nobility have a unique/archaic way of speaking) and sometimes the slurs were a little hard to figure out. But all in all the grammar was quite alright for this level. I enjoyed the manga. Especially the Elf Pakku :)

When I did the difficulty gradings I had read only the first two volumes; now that I've read the whole series I would rate it as more difficult. The text density varies wildly: some chapters and even volumes have rather little text, while others are filled with it. The vocabulary is extensive (at least for a manga) and widely varied in register.

Goated manga but mid for langauge learning
Ah, Berserk! Goated manga in termins of quality, but what about as a language learning ressource?
I think it´s alright. Like most manga, i feel like the main obstacle will be knowing the specific vocabulary and in Berserk´s case - there is a lot of that. If you like medieval terms though (like me), learning it can be quite enjoyable.
