(4.05/5)Funny and cute... once you get past the first chapter or two
The other review is right: you have to get past the first chapter or two of the protagonist being the edgiest edgelord to ever edgelord (he is, literally, in 2nd-year middle school, so he at least is at the right age to be a 中二病) before it starts to open up. Two things help: one, his actions and his true thoughts are always in the right place, and two, he's a total dweeb and always looks it.
Aside from that, on the language front this is mostly middle-school vocab with some caveats. The protag's chuuni tendencies, as well as a trend towards sex jokes, make it a bit more complicated than the average read, but the grammar is largely fairly straightforward and the book's short chapters encourage you to fly through them with ease.
/edit Jan 2024: I'm up to date on this series and it is by far one of the sweetest romances I've ever read. Highly recommended.

entertainment: This is a very cute romance manga. One of my favorite romance manga. Probably my favorite shounen romance manga (excluding yuri manga).
However, the manga starts with the protagonist planing to murder his classmate. But thats really just at the beginning. I want to stress that this is a very cute and wholesome manga overall. Even if the beginning is off putting to you, I recommend to read on. And if you are looking for something in the "psychological" genre this is unfortunately not for you.
language: This is a romance manga set in middle school. The language you'll encounter is probably exactly what you'd expect. I think this series tends to use a bit of slang and youth speak (not all manga with young characters do).
