(3.84/5)寒い日は「おなべ」
- Learned many different food and dish names-- vegetables, meat, and dishes
- Learned some phrases said at dinnertime
- Learned some verbs used in a recipe
I think the balance of kana and common kanji is good for a beginner. There is also furigana of course , but i was able to learn new words and their associated kanji
Having (more) Kanji would've helped.
Having reading material readable in kana is a good thing for native speakers children's who knows the words and sentence basic structure. However for a learner, its kinda hard to differentiate particles, conjunctions, etc.
More kanji with furigana would've helped.
Fun story. Sweet and savoury.
Enjoyed the story. I feel it's best read during winters with something to eat, otherwise one might end up feeling hungry by the time they finish reading the story. The illustrations are lovely! (◕ᴗ◕✿)

Fustrating use of kana only
This type of text would heavily have benefited from the switch to kanji instead of mostly focusing on kana for words which just doesn't work that well for this text and makes it super unenjoyable to read
