Good book to crack open on the go and get some words in. Pictures on some topics too. I recommend it if you are new to Japanese and want to really start digging into vocab beyond a text book. Lots of words that you may hear or encounter visiting or living in Japan for everyday items or actions. It has a website too that can suppliment it.

Bought the books but used the Anki deck which was super helpful for exam prep. (maybe even the resource that helped me most) The example sentences are very similar to the sentences they use in the N5 exam. If you want the Anki deck get the book to support the authors, they did a great job with the examples and audio! I don't know how if I would use the book on its own though, because you would have to play the audio for each sentence manually? Sound annoying.

There’s an anki deck for each book (N5-N1)

The format of this book is AWESOME. JLPT words are organized into themes with chapters and subsections which helps keep motivation when working through vocab.

The anki decks aren’t available as a shared deck. If you search the learnjapanese subreddit there’s a guy who’ll share the N5-N1 deck if you show proof of purchase. Decks are formatted really nicely.

Honestly big thanks to the authors and creator of the deck. Probably one of the most important drivers of my Japanese progress.

I still don't know the best way to use this book, but having a list of vocabulary with example sentences on hand can be convenient. And I loved finding out that the publisher has tests for each chapter online.
