This is a short story collection with 3 shorts, each with a young (middle to high school age) protagonist. They're basically young adult crime stories, and if you go in with that in mind you'll pretty much get what you expect.
The first two were ok and pretty standard, but the final story was so absurd as to be a edging towards hilarious at the end. Very much 赤川次郎 vibes in that one.
Language wise I'll note that I listened to the audiobook and didn't read the text, but considered the vocabulary
