As textbooks go, this series isn't bad. It presents new material in a logical way and keeps things interesting with illustrations and dialogs and so on. But it was clearly designed for use in a classroom rather than self-study. Many of the exercises can only be done with a partner or group, and there is no answer key to check your work for the ones that you can do on your own. The answers are actually in a separate "Teacher's Guide" book, which appears to be out of print now. I just can't recomm
