今村 夏子 has a unique way of taking everyday, mundane settings and making them strange and even creepy, but in a lighthearted way, and always in simple, approachable language. Her characters are all odd in various ways, but she always views them with sympathy, even when they're deeply flawed. She has quickly become one of my favourite authors, and this book delivered just as much as the others of hers I've read.

I thought the titular story had common elements with むらさきのスカートの女 and コンビニ人間, although of course it stands on its own and adds new (often hilarious, but also creepy) themes. I enjoyed all 4 stories in the collection.
