[DeepL Translation - needs review] All panels are full-color science fiction. This is a major addition to the officially serialized version on comico, a web manga app. After the World War IV, the development of aircraft was banned by international organizations in Japan, and a rechargeable flying human "Hybrid" was secretly developed. A bore
Post-World War 4, Japan has been barred by international bodies from operating aircraft. To get around this restriction, labs have created hybrid humans who can fly with anti-gravity devices. Hayato Hakoda is one such hybrid, whose first day at the 108 research lab has him sent on a mission to rescue a professor who is being hunted by the mysterious katana-wielding hybrid Ranmaru. From what I gather, this was originally a webcomic that was re-published as an ebook, and it shows.
The language level didn't seem very high from a grammar standpoint, and there are long stretches of action sequences with little-to-no text that made reading it pretty quick, but the dialogue that IS there can get exhausting to read with the density of kanji terms and made-up sci-fi language, most of which has no furigana (or non-matching furigana). As a self-published comic, the presentation is also non-standard and makes it more draining to read, with speech bubbles that are often crowded or have slightly-too-small text. It's in full colour and speech bubbles are colour-coded by character, which can aid in figuring out who's speaking, but it worsens the contrast with the already-hard-to-read text.
I did not have fun reading this. I barely knew what was going on, no one had a clear motivation or personality that I cared about, and the main character quickly got annoying by acting shocked every time a character turned out to be female. I assume there's some sort of plot, considering there's more books and also a spin-off/sequel(?) series, but based on this volume, I have no idea what it is and have no curiosity to find out.
