My guilty pleasure...
This book series is so bad. The stories are so unbelievable and the representation of girls and boys is so awful, but I have fun reading them and as an adult I don't need good representation. ;) I would not ever give these books to kids to read, though. Basically, the boys are all these uberperfect humans and the girls are all nasty and/or useless. Also, there is no work-life balance. The MC gets up at like 5 in the morning and apart from a short break to change clothes at home, she is in school or juku until after 22:00. And she then still has to study, do homework or write her case journal. I don't know how any of these kids are still functioning. 😨 Surprisingly, some of the books deal with pretty dark/mature topics, which I is unexpected for Middle Grade stuff.
