Pulpy sci-fi well executed, about a space ship crew's encounter with weird aliens that eat things (including people) to gain data. The story never just stops - the situation is always in flux and new developments keep coming one after the other. Just overall really enjoyable.
Difficultywise - for a science fiction book it's easy. There's still a level of space-based technology vocab that you might not know if you haven't read this genre much, but overall highly readable.
