A 女中, live-in maid, recounting her life during the war. The real trick here is how the story is completely isolated to within the four walls of this "small house", and often only really tells of the war by means of a present-time relative of the protagonist accusing her of romanticizing the time. The relationships of the people within that small house very subtly progress, and i absolutely want to avoid spoiling anything about this, but the last chapter of this book is just amazing and really el
